Making the most of the KCP experience
At KCP, student life involves much more than just academic work. Student leadership is promoted and encouraged at all levels, from student organizations and assemblies to independent initiatives. Sports are an important part of school life and many teams represent the School at a competitive level. Events and special days offer more opportunities for learning and encouraging leadership. The Arts are also an important part of a young person’s education and we encourage participation in music, art and theater activities to nurture creativity and personal expression.
KCP offers a great variety of sports for students to practice. Facilities include three basketball courts, three volleyball courts, a swimming pool, a soccer field with six-lane track and a baseball/softball field. Students can participate in a number of tournaments throughout the year.
KCP students can join national and international organizations that help them acquire leadership skills and become better citizens of the world. Options such as Model United Nations, Mu Alpha Theta, Makerspace, National Honor Society and others allow for the refining of talents and skills and the formation of close friendships.
Helping the less fortunate is an important part of KCP’s mission. It is also one of the most fundamental ways to teach character. A full-time Coordinator leads projects to help the less fortunate, involving all students from 1st through 12th grades.
KCP’s Character Counts! program is a framework for teaching ethical decision-making, centered on Six Fundamental Values: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. Younger students engage in many activities to reinforce these values while older students learn to give voice to these values through their decisions and attitudes.
