From February 1-4 the School held the sixth version of its KCPMUN (KCP Model United Nations). During these four days of intense work, students were brought together at Dann Carlton Hotel in Barranquilla for an enriching experience that provided them with the opportunity to cultivate their diplomatic skills, while engaging in high-level discussions around the many problems our planet is currently facing.
With more than 200 participants, all following the strict United Nations protocol, delegates addressed important issues under this year’s slogan: “Forge Innovation, Lead Transformation”, a phrase that invited our young people to think outside the box and come up with unconventional solutions to conflict.
For the past six years, KCPMUN has been a learning experience that fosters high level discussion, research and analysis, where students cooperatively address crucial matters while assuming real lifelike diplomatic roles. Carried out almost entirely in English, this year’s model involved participants from different schools in Barranquilla and in the Caribbean region such as Colegio Altamira, Marymount, Colegio Jorge Washington and British School in Cartagena, La Sierra in Valledupar and Colegio Bilingüe in Santa Marta, all installed in 7 different committees: Security Council, UNODC, ADHOC-SPECPOL, CONGRESS, ICC, UNOCT, and SOCHUM.
