“I’ll teach you to jump on the wind’s back and away we go!” … KCP students have been working all year long to bring the magic of Peter Pan to life! With only a few days before May 16th, this wonderful musical show promises to amaze us all! The School extends an invitation to all students, parents and their companions to come and see this great show, which will showcase the best of KCP’s talent.
It’s no wonder that we are so excited about this great show! This will be an amazing opportunity for more than 150 of our students to exhibit their artistic talent in our School’s state-of-the-art theatre, set to fit 500 people, also featuring professional audio and video systems.
The main cast will be wearing beautifully tailored costumes, to help transform them into these beloved characters. With light and sound systems designed by experts, these young musical promises will offer one of the most important shows of the year. ” I have seen with great admiration the talent and dedication of KCP students and their love for the arts”, says Emily Martin, Director of the English program and Secondary teacher who, after working for four years at KCP, was inspired by their interest in performing arts and the carnival spirit of Barranquilla: “This is a city that loves dance and music and many of our students are interested in the arts; I knew then that this would be the ideal place to have a musical show, “adds Martin.
Taking her role at heart as the musical’s director, Emily Martin is working with students from grades 2-12, who will be singing and dancing, playing in the Orquestra, directing, and flying as part of the whole theatrical experience, using a custom made orchestra pit wiring system.
The main cast is comprised of 19 talented high school students, who have demonstrated enthusiasm and great work ethic from the very beginning. Starring as Peter Pan, Ana Carolina Pérez, is taking the lead in her third theatrical experience, alongside María José Fernández, who is playing Wendy. Both their angelic voices are sure to astound audience members. Sofía Atique and Salwa Jaller beautifully execute the roles of Wendy’s sisters Jane and Michelle with humor and skill. Playing their parents Mr. and Mrs. Darling are Alejandro Roca and Mariana Tcherassi. Oriana Lamboglia, playing the role of Captain Hook, will terrify and entrance audience members with her character and band of pirates made up of Nicolas Acosta, Sebastian Urena, Daniel Carbo, and Sergio Karagumechian. Playing Indian Princesses Tiger and Lily as well as choreographing much of the show, Liliana Cuello and Paulina Espinosa bring athleticism and beauty to the stage. As Lost Children, Sofia Herrera, Mariana Martinez, Nicole Amastha, and Valeria Ruiz will have all children hoping to run away to Neverland. Students are also working behind the curtain. High schoolers are participating by directing, stage managing, choreographing, and playing in the orchestra.
