High School Binationals 2018: Chasing Greatness
On Saturday the teams from KCP concluded their participation in the High School Binational Games 2018 at Columbus School in Medellin.
They were up against tough competition from the other 12 ACCAS accredited schools from around the country. KCP participated in the following sports: soccer, basketball, volleyball, and softball. Following an intense week of games, the KCP boys softball team finished in second place. Our athletic department is proud of all of those who represented the School in the games.
Our young girls volleyball team showed a lot of commitment and promise for the future! We would also like to highlight the sportsmanship spirit of our boys volleyball team, who had a positive and encouraging attitude throughout the entire tournament.

We will have a new Iconic Symbol of the KCP Spirit
Our past makes us proud, our future makes us prouder! We can’t stop celebrating! The School will launch an exciting new infrastructure project that will be an ICONIC SYMBOL of the KCP spirit: A STUDENT CENTER with collaborative areas and a brand new air-conditioned cafeteria will be built over a 2.000 sq meter lot, to further provide our students with the best environment to keep building an amazing learning community TOGETHER!
Get to know all about this project conceived by our Alumni 2001 Ricardo Vives!
Check out this interview with our Student Center´s architect:
Tell us about the Student Center project!
The new student center project for KCP was conceived as a space that students could enjoy, take pride and could consider as their own. The building has an irregular shaped floor plan that adapts to the surroundings and establishes interactions between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The entire area focuses on a courtyard that brings some of the greenery in the campus into the building and stands as a reminder of the leisurely character for the building. The elevation of the building, recalls the sloped roof shape of existing buildings and anchors the new construction in the past, but the materials and changing geometry put a foot forward and become the shared vision of the future for the school. FInally, the new 750 square meter space will host two main activities: eating and sharing. The air conditioned state-of-the-art dining area (for each individually, elementary and highschool) and kitchen space will be set alongside an innovative student center where kids can study, play and work together.
How has it felt to be back at KCP and take on this amazing new infrastructure project ?
Having the opportunity to work for our school has been an incredible experience. As a former student I remember my days in KCP and feel proud of being part of this community and l wish that younger generations can feel as proud of our school as I do. I sincerely hope this new building helps shape that feeling… This is definitely a great challenge but is also a unique opportunity.
Looking back, what are some of your best memories or experiences from KCP? How has your KCP experience impacted your life today?
I remember fondly some of the classes, my life long friends, sports competitions and extracurricular activities. Being a KCP student is an important part of who I am today and was definitive in giving me tools that have helped me along the way.
Why are you #ProudToBeKC?
Being a KCP student is having the opportunity to shape the world around you.

In this version, Bamun’s motto “The power to transcend” tries to encourage participants to cross the established barriers and contribute to the international community by promoting peace and diplomacy.
Through the six Committees, students address issues of great importance such as the war against drug trafficking in Colombia, the situation for women in Asia: a hidden culture of injustice; the global efforts to fight the new era of terrorism or the establishment of Venezuela as a failed state.

Our First Mini Model United Nations (Mini KCPMUN)
KCP is having its first Mini Model United Nations (Mini KCPMUN) Conference, hosted by the KCP MUN Club.
Mini KCPMUN is a two-day conference that will be held today and tomorrow, welcoming students from our Secondary School to partake in an exciting and enlightening experience. Our conference fosters problem-solving skills, allows new students to gain a first taste of organized debate, and provides veteran students the opportunity to hone their debating and public speaking skills. Mini KCPMUN is also a great first conference for Model United Nations teams that are entirely new to this experience.
We are pleased to inform the selection of committees that are being offered this year. We are running specialized committees (such as Congreso) as well as two committee simulations that play a significant role in global politics (such as the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Issues committee). These committees encourage all delegates to extensively research and analyze their respective country’s policies and political relations.
We are confident that each of our committees will allow both novice and experienced debaters to put their skills to good use in an accurate simulation of 21st Century international politics.
