Looking back, what are some of your best memories or experiences from KCP? How has your KCP experience impacted your life today?

Great memories come to my mind from kindergarten to senior year. I think KCP is a happy and collaborative place where everyone can stand out for their own merits. One of my most vivid memories was my (and many of my classmates’) first recognition in school. The traditional ‘shiny pencil’ still stands somewhere in my house in Barranquilla. This sense of merit-based compensation has ever since made me someone who strives for being great and praises those who are so too.

How did KCP prepare you for your years at Universidad de los Andes?

KCP has been an essential part of who I am today and who I wish to become. It has given me the self-confidence to follow my dreams, the ability to solve problems and focus on new solutions, and the vision to impact my world in the most local and global way. More than just academic excellence, KCP also gave me a sense of community and humaneness that I still carry with me in everything I do. KCP prepared me to face my undergraduate studies and life altogether, ranging from coping with a hostile work/study environment to facing a large room of students which I have to teach.

Why are you proud to be KCP?

Being part of the KCP community is a privilege and at the same time a great commitment. Our teachers have been inspiring mentors, our school is a symbol of excellence and the environment is positive and motivating. Being a KCP alumn is also a responsibility which I hope I can fulfill. I feel grateful to now stand as an alumn next to so many great professionals who have revolutionized their fields. It is our job now to give back to the institution whose hallways carry so much of our stories.

What advice would you give KCP´s students?

Look at the big picture, feel fortunate to be part of KCP, enjoy every moment of your school years, and don’t lose the opportunity to build your character and individuality all while you have fun gathering unforgettable memories. Adversity will come, regardless of how much you fight it. Embrace the unexpected and ride with the wave that life is.
