How has your KCP experience impacted your life and the choices you have made in your career?
KCP instilled in me essential core values that have remained a guiding force throughout both my personal and professional life. Principles such as work ethic, teamwork, honesty, and respect were deeply embedded in me during my formative years at KCP, and they continue to shape the journalist I am today. In a field where you’re constantly engaging with diverse perspectives, whether on the campaign trail or at the White House, these values have enabled me to connect with and learn from journalists worldwide, often turning challenges into opportunities in my career.
What advice would you give KCP students? Especially those who would like to take a career path similar to yours and one day work in the field of journalism and communications.
My advice is simple: never give up. Keep working hard, and remove the word can’t from your vocabulary—because there is always a way, and there’s always an answer. Hard work does pay off, but you have to want it even more than the work you pay forward.
For those pursuing a career in journalism or communications, my advice is to stay curious, ask questions, and never accept “no” as a final answer. Keep pushing boundaries and engage with the world around you. This relentless curiosity is what will drive you forward in this industry. ASK, ask a lot.
What are some of your best memories or experiences at KCP?
Some of my most cherished memories from KCP revolve around the strong relationships I built there. The sense of camaraderie and collaboration made my learning experience not only enjoyable but profoundly impactful. I also had opportunities to challenge myself in ways I never anticipated. These experiences were transformative and instrumental in shaping both my professional career and my personal growth.
What makes you proud to be a member of the KCP Family?
What makes me most proud to be part of the KCP Family is the sense of community and support this school fosters, forever. It’s a place where people truly care about each other’s success, and the values of hard work, resilience, and integrity are deeply ingrained. There is meaning, behind being a KCP alumnus. There is a sense of family and pride that will stick with you beyond the years.
