Francisco J. Jassir – Class of 2012

KCP Alumni Profiles, Publications

We want to highlight Francisco J. Jassir, Class of 2012, and his company Farmu, a startup that supports and transforms independent drugstores by optimizing its supply chain, augmenting its access to new and better products. Over 2000 independent pharmacies are currently benefiting from the fast-growing digital platform. We had the chance to talk to Francisco about his career path and how KCP has impacted his career.

-How has your KCP experience impacted your life and the choices you have made in your career? What tools do you feel KCP gave you that helped you throughout your career?

Understanding the value of hard work. KCP always made clear the importance of your discipline to achieve what you want. Sometimes you will, sometimes you won’t. But what´s truly important is to keep going no matter the result. “Disciplina academica” as Alvaro Diaz, my former AP Spanish professor used to say. As I grew I got to better understand this phrase. KCP does a great job of showing you the world while keeping you grounded in your roots. This last part is key as you progress in life, never forget you are from Barranquilla, Colombia.

-What advice would you give to KCP students who would like to follow a similar career path as yours and become a tech entrepreneur?

Discover who you are as a person first. This will answer many questions you have as you finish High School. Getting to know yourself will be your biggest asset in life. If you end up deciding entrepreneurship is for you, pursue your ideas with unregrettable passion. This path is so hard that you will need not only your efforts but also the support from those around you to even have a chance to succeed. Be humble enough to understand you do not have all the answers. Intellectual curiosity will be the best ally in your process. Having the willingness to learn will always put you on a better path.

– What are some of the best memories from your time at KCP?

Friendship. Both from students and staff. KCP gave me my life friends. To this day we continue to be best friends. Playing soccer, and team-building, are all of these great things that I will always cherish in my lifetime. Life lessons from teachers like Hectalina Donado, Andres Parra, Amber League, Irving Jimenez, Alvaro Diaz, Miguel Herrera, and Mike Williams to mention a few. KCP is an amazing place to develop your character.

– What makes you proud to be a member of the KCP family?

We are a global community. We kick ass around the world!
