It was a pleasure to have this year’s special guest, Omar Téllez Echeverri, KCP Class of 1986.
Mr. Tellez spoke to the Graduating Class of 2021 about how KCP provided him with his unlimited love of learning, his best friends to this day, and his happiest years. He also shared with them his key learnings in life.

Mr. Téllez is a serial technology entrepreneur/executive in the areas of mobile public transportation/mapping, mobile gaming, augmented reality, and telecommunications. He has been part of multiple successful exits in the technology space, including:
● Keyhole (Google Maps) – Board of Advisors – Sold to Google 10/04
● Synchronoss Technologies – CMO & EVP Business Development; IPO (6/06) led by Goldman Sachs
& Deutsche Bank becoming the best software IPO of that year

He has been quoted and published in a variety of technology business, and media publications
including Business Week, Forbes, TechCrunch (Regular Contributor), Washington Post and
Semana/Dinero among others.
Mr. Téllez was a founding member and Chair of The Messaging, Malware and Mobile Anti-Abuse Working
Group (M3AAWG), the world’s most influential cybersecurity organization. Currently, he is the Chairman
Emeritus of this organization.
He is a regular presenter and moderator at leading industry events such as the Consumer Electronics Show
(CES), the Mobile World Congress (MWC-Barcelona) and the Rutberg & Co. Wireless Influencers
Conference.
Mr. Téllez holds a Master in Business Administration with High Honors from the Walter A. Haas School of
Business, University of California at Berkeley (1996) and a Bachelor in Science in Industrial Engineering from
Universidad de Los Andes (1991).
He currently serves as Alto Consejero Tecnología y Emprendimiento (ad honorem) to Barranquilla’s
Mayor, Jaime A. Pumarejo, and as an advisor to the Secretary of Communications of the Republic of
Colombia.
He’s an active investor in Technology startup companies which include among others YourParade.com
and Boards.
After living in California for over fifteen years, Mr. Téllez moved to the East Coast. He settled in Princeton,
NJ with his wife Yamile Slebi and their three children Camila, Isabel, and Manuel. Camila, the founder of
yourparade.com, was recently selected as a member of the 2021 cohort of Forbes’ Magazine Thirty Under
Thirty –the most successful 30 people under the age of 30.
