Fostering learning environments and reinforcing diplomatic skills
Colegio Karl C. Parrish praises itself for being a School that promotes analysis and debate, providing students with opportunities to discuss and interpret some of the different problems that the world is currently facing. KCPMUN is a program designed as a motivational experience in a learning environment amongst students, that fosters high level discussions and improves their diplomatic skills.
From the 15-18th of March, 2018, our students held the V KCPMUN Conference at the Dann Carlton Hotel. This Conference offers young students the opportunity to discuss, in an analytical manner and following the protocol and scheme of the United Nations, some of the problematics that the world is currently facing. This year’s theme was Unity Is Key, which reminds us that conflict resolution is best achieved as a group rather than individually.
Year after year, KCPMUN aims to be a motivational experience that promotes a learning environment among students, where they will feel constantly challenged, encouraging high level discussions and debate situations that will improve their diplomatic skills. Carried out almost entirely in English, this year the model involved more than 200 young people from different schools in Barranquilla, all installed in 6 different committees: Security Council, SPECPOL (Special Decolonization and Political Committee), Crisis Cabinet Committee, UNODC ( United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime), DISEC (Disarmament and International Security) (Semilleros), and a legal committee held in Spanish.
KCPMUN will continue to be a powerful and educational event, which will allow students to grow and assume an almost real role as delegates, learning to cooperatively address real-world problems. KCP congratulates the best delegates of each committee and all those who made this great event possible, helping us shape the minds of our young people.
The best delegates of each committee were:
Alejandro Vega
Jaime Rueda
Shaady Palace
Carlos Pertuz
Alejandro Berdugo
